Liver Cancer: Liver cancer Prevention, Treatment - 9 best ways to Prevent Liver cancer

Liver Cancer Prevention

By following preventive measures many liver cancers could be prevented. Given below are some of the preventive measure for avoiding lung cancer.

♥ Liver Cancer Prevention: Drink alcohol only in moderation

Drinking alcohol can lead to cirrhosis, which in turn, can lead to liver cancer. If you choose to drink alcohol, limit the amount you drink. For women, this means no more than one drink a day. For men, this means no more than two drinks a day.

♥ Liver Cancer Prevention: Maintain a healthy weight

Avoiding obesity might be another way to help protect against liver cancer. Individuals who are obese are more likely to have fatty liver disease and diabetes, both of which have been connected to liver cancer. Try moderate Exercise, Yoga or go for a walk for half-an-hour daily.

♥ Liver Cancer Prevention: Follow Safety guidelines with chemicals

If you work around chemicals linked to liver cancer, follow safety guidelines to avoid unnecessary contact.
Changing the way certain grains are stored in tropical and subtropical countries could reduce exposure to cancer-causing substances such as aflatoxins.

♥ Liver Cancer Prevention: Get vaccinated against hepatitis B

You are at risk of having hepatitis B if you:

→ Have sex with someone who is infected

→ Have multiple sex partners

→ Have a sexually transmitted disease

→ Are a man who has sex with other men

→ Inject drugs

→ Live with a person who has chronic HBV

→ Travel to countries where many people have HBV

→ Are exposed to blood on the job

→ Get long-term hemodialysis

You can reduce your risk of hepatitis B by receiving the hepatitis B vaccine, which provides more than 90 percent protection for both adults and children. The vaccine can be given to almost anyone, including infants, older adults and those with compromised immune systems.

Top 10 Symptoms of Liver Cancer Everybody need to Know

♥ Liver Cancer Prevention: Healthy eating

Lung Cancer can largely be avoided by making sure you have a healthy, balanced diet that is low in fat and salt and high in fruit and vegetables.

♥ Liver Cancer Prevention: Regular exercise

Moderate exercise has been shown to improve fatigue (extreme tiredness), anxiety, and self-esteem. It also helps heart and blood vessel fitness, muscle strength, and body composition (how much of your body is made up of fat, bone, or muscle).

♥ Liver Cancer Prevention: Prevent Yourself from hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is mainly spread by unsafe medical practices.
If you use injected drugs, the best way of avoiding a hepatitis C infection is to not share any of the drug-injecting equipment with other people.Hepatitis c is caused when one's blood comes in contact with other person blood. The best way to prevent Hepatitis C is to avoid:
→ second hand needles

→ mixing spoons

→ filters

→ water used to dissolve drugs

→ tourniquets (the belt that drug users sometimes
tie around their arm to make it easier to inject their veins)

♥ Liver Cancer Prevention: Take Prescribed Medicine Only

Avoid taking medicine with yourself only.
Before taking iron supplements, check with a doctor to make sure you really need them.
Do not use anabolic steroids unless medically necessary.

♥ Liver Cancer Prevention: Ask your doctor about liver cancer screening

Screening means testing for early stages of a disease before there are any symptoms. Liver cancer screening should be done to peoples who have high risk of:

♦ Hepatitis B

♦ liver cirrhosis

♦ a family history of liver cancer

♦ Hepatitis C infection and liver cirrhosis

♦ excessive alcohol user,

♦ nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and inherited hemochromatosis

♦ Primary biliary cirrhosis

Liver cancer Cure :Liver Cancer Treatment

1. Liver Cancer treatment: Surgery

Surgery can be used to diagnose, treat, or even help prevent cancer. Surgery involves various surgical procedures used to treat liver cancer. Surgery is likely to be the most successful disease-directed treatment, specially for patients with a small tumor (smaller than 5 cm).

Types of Liver Surgery :-

Partial Hepatectomy and Liver translant are the two types of surgery used to treat Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

a) Partial Hepatectomy

Surgery to remove part of the liver is called partial hepatectomy.
Partial hepatectomy is considered for a single tumor that has not developed into blood vessels. It is only an option in patients with good liver function who are healthy enough for surgery. Unfortunately, most liver cancers cannot be completely removed. Often the cancer is in too many different parts of the liver, is too large, or has spread beyond the liver.

b) Liver Transplant

liver transplant is used to treat patients with small tumors.
liver transplants can be a choice for those with tumors that cannot be removed with surgery, either because of the location of the tumors or because the liver is too diseased for the patient to withstand removing part of it.
With a transplant, not only is the risk of a second new liver cancer significantly reduced, but the new liver will function normally.

2. Liver Cancer treatment: Microwave or Radio-frequency ablation

Microwave or radiofrequency ablation (RFA) may be prescribed as an option to surgery to treat liver cancer at an early stage, ideally when the tumour or tumours are smaller than 5cm (50mm) in diameter.
These treatments involve heating the tumours with microwaves or radio waves produced by small, needle-like electrodes. This heat kills the cancer cells and causes the tumours to shrink.

3. Liver Cancer treatment: Chemotherapy

Chemotherapy works by slowing down or stopping the growth of cancer cells by the use of certain medications.
transcatheter arterial chemoembolisation (TACE) is a type of chemotherapy usually recommended to treat cases of stage B and C liver cancer. In these cases, the treatment can prolong life, but cannot cure the cancer.

4. Liver Cancer treatment: Radiation Therapy or Radiotherapy

Radiation therapy uses high-energy particles or waves, such as x-rays, gamma rays, electron beams, or protons, to destroy or damage cancer cells.
Radiation therapy consists of a specific number of treatments given over a set period of time.

5. Liver Cancer treatment: External-beam radiation therapy

External-beam radiation therapy is radiation given from a machine outside the body. External-beam radiation therapy is not often used for HCC.

6. Liver Cancer treatment: Internal radiation therapy

Internal radiation therapy involves placing radioactive beads into the artery that supplies the tumor with blood in a manner similar to chemoembolization, which is becoming more widely used.

7. Liver Cancer treatment: Targeted therapy

Targeted Therapy is a newer type of cancer treatment that uses drugs or other substances to more precisely identify and attack cancer cells, usually while doing little damage to normal cells.

Targeted Therapy, targets the cancer’s specific genes, proteins, or the tissue environment that contributes to cancer growth and survival. This type of treatment blocks the growth and spread of cancer cells while limiting damage to healthy cells.

8. Liver Cancer treatment: Embolization therapy

Embolization therapy is an option for some patients with tumors that cannot be uprooted by surgery. It can be used for tumors that are usually  larger than 5 cm to be treated with ablation. It can also be used with ablation. Embolization does reduce some of the blood supply to the normal liver tissue, so it may not be a good option for some patients whose liver has been damaged by diseases such as hepatitis or cirrhosis.
